1/2 Ton frame vs. 3/4 Ton

Is there a differance between the 1/2 ton frame and 3/4 ton frame? I know all the suspension is different, but what about the frame its self? I am in need of a 3/4 ton 2wd frame, but as you know that is harder to find than a 1/2frame. So I am hoping I could use the 1/2 frame and put all my 3/4 ton suspension on it.

Re: 1/2 Ton frame vs. 3/4 Ton

Frame is the same, there is a little extra bracing though. If it's a 3/4 ton Longhorn, they use a one ton frame though.

Agreed, there are a few more braces, supports, but other than that the frame rails are the same, and can be converted to a 1/2 very simple.

I agree with everything said
However... look around, I've always found 3/4 ton stuff to be WAY more common and cheaper too.

Re: 1/2 Ton frame vs. 3/4 Ton

I also have a frame i'm taking from under my 3/4 ton. Mine is setup for bags. It currently has bags at all four corners with the rear notched. Let me know if you are interested, I'm switching to a shortbed

Re: 1/2 Ton frame vs. 3/4 Ton

DieselEater....Thank you but Colorado is just a bit to far especially since the vehicle I am trying to fix is my tow vehicle.

snacob14...I don't know anything about bad suspensions I am just trying to fix mine that recently got wrecked.

Check pull-a-part salvage. 3/4 frames are almost giveaways. The cab mounts are very different then 1/2 ton. doing a swap is not worth all the work involved in my opinion. Huck

So putting a 1/2 cab on a 3/4 ton frame requires alot of extra work?? I thought the cabs would bolt right on. Educate me please.

I think you just use the 3/4 ton cab mounts on the 3/4 ton frame.

I have a 3/4 ton frame as well. Sent you a pm. I got it from Huck a couple years ago and never used it.

Cabs are the same, just be sure to use the body mounts to match the frame not the cab...
