Question What Should I Upgrade First?

Should I upgrade my D60 with 4340 Cro-Mo shafts, CTM U-joints, Crane knuckles, locker, drive flanges, and Razor Back cover?

Or upgrade tranny(700R4), t-case (Atlas 4-Speed), and driveshafts (H.A.D.'s)?

Both options are about the same amount of money; give or take.

If you have a specific reason why I should upgrade one over the other, post it!

Re: What Should I Upgrade First?

unless you really thrash on your truck I wouldn't worry to much about the dana 60 as it is. I put a doubler and 700r4 in mine and I absolutly love having the lower gears for crawlen and the over drive on the road. So my vote is definatly for the trans and transfer case. Replace the axle parts as you break them.

Re: What Should I Upgrade First?

The D60 yoke is the same series as the 1/2 ton D44...This or the U-joint should break before anything else does.......

Therefore....I think that would be the first place to start. The only problem is you've now made the weak link in the drivetrain a bit more expensive!!!!! I believe that the drivetrain should be bullet proof from front to back....BUT, that tends to get expensive!

DieselEater has a good point! You definetly don't want the drivetrain breaking.

Re: What Should I Upgrade First?

Of the choices given, I'd say in stock form the 700r is the weakest link overall.
Based on their notorious reputation anyway.

Don't forget about the D60 knuckles, they break too.
More so on the Ford axles but the Chevy's give up one in a while as well.
