Almost Famous

I just found out that my Dads cousin Tom is the paint guru on the Discovery channel show " Monster Garage" . Kind of makes me wish I watch more TV. Ive never seen the show.

Theres some good custom car painters in the family.

That paint guy is awesome. I can't believe how good that Caddy/firetruck looked when he was done.

As for Monster Garage, I got pissed when they hacked up a '96 Impala SS to make a Zamboni out of it. Paint was nice on it... I would have traded them for my '96 Taurus and let them make a zamboni out of it!

The Impala SS was a clone, just a glorified Caprice.

mikep, I would like to know if your dad's cousin really paints those cars in one night, or is it just dramatized that way for the show.

Tom Prewitt is a killer painter. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that he paints it one night. NO real prep, no show finish. Like the Impala, no basecoat, just scuffed and candied, cleared, then baked. Probably using a fast reducer too, shortening up the flash times.

I'm serious . Ive never seen it but I am going to have to watch the show. My Uncle Rick Prewitt sent me an picture by email yesterday with him standing next to his cousin Tom Prewitt and a caption saying " a celebrity comes to town " . Ricks a good painter too but I had no idea Tom was of that caliber a painter. I dont think Ive seen him in 25 years. I'll have to do some asking around.

Yup, stole it from CMT. She doesn't sing she just walks around and looks good. its from the music video "Diamond Rio - Beautiful mess".
