Re: probably a dumb question but what year trucks are compatible with a 78 GMC C-1500
front clip parts ie Sheet metal. 73-80 if he wants identical but most every thing is the same from 73-87. There are some changes with tail gates and dashes bezels and stupid crap like that. If you ask a specific part someone will be able to tell you if it will work or not. but the short answer is 73-87. Nice truck btw

79-80 front clip changed, 79 had round headlights and a full chrome grill surround, and 80 had rectangle headlights with the full chrome surround, and beyond 80 the core support was different, they had 4 headlights, or 2 headlights both rectangular. Sheet metal, with the exception of the hood should all fit, 78 to 73 was all the same with minor changes, 77 had the yellow stripe in the middle of the body side chrome, the other years black stripe. The 81 to 87 hoods were different than the 73-79. Not sure about 80 on that part.

Personally I think that price is a little high for that truck. Maybe it's just not my style, but I wouldn't pay more than 4 for that, considering it had no rust. |

That'd be a hard sell on this board with all the hydro mods -- most of the low riders on here seem to be into bags, or even a more traditiona muscle truck look. A few guys just like 'em stock.
They're not my thing, but i lived in Chula Vista for a while, so i got used to 'em

whew -- the sky (and a person's wallet) is the limit. If the chassis is already optimized, i'd say the first thing most people concentrate on is the engine. Everything from new school fuel injected engines to old school big block engines with carbs is acceptable in these, --- oversize brakes is also a place a lot of people upgrade, discs on the back, posi units in the rear end if it doesnt already have it. As far as the interior, everything from a brand new stock interior to full custom stuff is available. Since this one is on hydro, i assume you are leaning towards custom stuff. Then there are cowl induction hoods, power window and lock kits --- jus about anything you want to do to a vehicle can be done to one of these trucks

Re: probably a dumb question but what year trucks are compatible with a 78 GMC C-1500
is that a hole in the back of the cab and front of the bed? that doesnt look good --- the paint job looks like a quickie one too, due to the oversparay all over the front wheelwells
If i was looking for a project, i'd stay away from this one, dude

The 1980 trucks had round headlights except the Silverado package which included the rectangular light package. The rectangular headlights could also be added with the exterior decor package. The 79/80 hoods also had a stamped trim line across the front of the hood.
