Re: Stock Steering wheel part question
10/4. I see it now.
Check the www.classicparts.com site on page 40 of the catalog. (32-493B). It's the aftermarket kit but I think it has what you need. About the only other thing you may be able to do is to see if you can find one in a junkyard as you mentioned. Last edited by 68gmsee; 01-10-2008 at 06:05 PM. |

Re: Stock Steering wheel part question
This may sound funny, but I have used a shortened spring out of a ball point pen.

Re: Stock Steering wheel part question
youre thinking of the little spring on the contact, yeah it looks like a pen spring, I've got that one, the one I need is the one that goes around the center shaft it's probably about 3/4 inches wide and a inch tall.

Re: Stock Steering wheel part question
If it,s a non-tilt column it doesn,t use a spring there. The spring is below the lower brg. #44. When you tighten down the strg. wheel nut it pulls up on the shaft & compresses the spring.

Re: Stock Steering wheel part question
Paul if you have a tilt column the cancelling cam will look like the one on them left with a spring under it. A standard column has a cancelling cam like the one on the right, and it is as wrenchbender ret describes. If you need one for tilt you should be able to find at a hardware store.
