I just ordered my tilt from mel @ classicbowties should get it by the weekend what steering wheel did you go with ? pics would help I also want to know what is involved in putting in the after market or a different steering wheel than the one that it came originally with ?....thanks

I love the classic but luxurious look of the woodgrain wheels like you have on a clean, stock(ish) Blazer. I believe there are some after market look alikes that have a smaller, more drivable diameter than the stock wheel.

I can't think of a better pick then the woodgrain or padded '67 corvette replica, seems to fit the era. Mine is from Classic Ind., pic of the woodgrain one looks right on, is that original? If that was in my truck, I wouldn't change anything J.

You know what Id really like to do? There is a guy who manufactures repops of original classic (like 55-57 chev etc.); however they are smaller in diameter than the old original hoops. The problem is, it costs a bunch of money to do the first one to make the dies to produce them.
I think a stock chev or GMC wheel that has a more modern small diameter would be so cool, but it would take a sizable number of purchasers to make it doable.

Hey, johnoro, this is off-topic, but where did you get the weatherstripping rubber for your Blazer. Is that just the standard stuff that most or all vendors carry? And is there a kit that includes what look like rubberized caps on the corners of the windshield frame? Nice looking pieces, just like the rest of your ride.

Back on topic, I'm also with the crowd that's wondering why you would want to switch out that nice looking woodie wheel.

it's a one piece that goes from the top of the windshield and comes all around to the edge 40.00 bucks for both doors worked out good for me

Thx for the info, JOHNORO (although I'm not sure how to take "oldsenna"

). Anyway, to make sure we're on the same page, does the kit include the top windshield corner "tabs"? I can't tell from the Truck Shop catalog pic.

I'm concerned because my Blazer's corners are raw and the metal is slightly rusted. I'm going to be installing a Bestop soon, so I'm wondering whether I can protect the corners with the rubber "pads" or do I need to get into a major (= expensive) metal fab/welding job.

If anybody else has any input, please don't hesitate. And if we need to start a seperate thread, that's fine with me.

the weatherstripping does come with that tab and is has the metal under the rubber built into it ....

I was also looking to buy a new steering wheel for my Blazer. I've still got the big original one....and it really needs an upgrade! Glad you started this thread Johnoro!

I'm actually quite fond of the stock wheel. I tried the corvette repop wheel but it looked too small... kinda fake looking, so I sent it back and ordered a new stock style replacement.

The other problem for me was during the rebuild, I swapped in a variable / quicker ratio steering box. The larger diameter stock wheel gives it just the right road control.
