If Your Doing The Back Window, Use A Rope, Wrap Around The Outside Of Rubber On The Window. Put In The Opening, Then Pull On The Rope And It Should Seat The Window In The Hole.

Re: how to get window is sash

I was told by a glass installer to stand the glass on a piece of carpet or soft material, lay the seal over top the edge of the glass and using a rubber mallet, very carefully drive the sash down until it seats. I have not tried it yet, but I plan on doing it in the near future.

Good luck!

If you are doing it to the side windows, and you have the thin rubber strips use some motor oil on them to soften the rubber. It should go together then. This is how the service manual says to do it also.

Where did you get your window setting tape (rubber)? If it is the crap tha LMC sells it is too thick and will not go in place for love of god nor money. Go to a body shop or glass shop and get the correct stuff and it will go together much easier especially with the rubbr mallet. Hope this helps.

Is it like strip of rubber you might have cut from an inner tube? If it is/does then definitely go to glass shop to get the right stuff as this will break the glass before it wll go into place.

Re: how to get window is sash

I just did one, and I ended up stretching the strip lengthwise. This effectively thinned it out enough to tap it on with a dead blow hammer. I used glass cleaner as a lube on a recommendation of a glass shop.
