Re: brake question
The calipers are pretty much standard but I don't remember the size. The wheel cylinders are different depending on the size of the shoes and there are several as I recall.

Re: brake question
Yes you could get manual brakes on any of the base models. Power was an option.

Re: brake question
I ran manual brakes on my 73 for years and it had a built 454, 4 speed and a loose nut behind the steering wheel. Never was a problem stopping it. I did convert to power steering though as turning it was murder...

i have a brake booster turned cross ways under the very small dash of my model "A" hot rod, works real good with the 4 wheel disk brakes.

are they different or do they have the same 1-1/8" bore? technically the power booster would fit, I'm just having a hard time getting the linkage to work. |

On the linkage, make a Z-bar mounted vertically. Then the when the pedal pushes the bar it will pivot and the other tab will apply the brakes. Just make sure it is the same amount of travel... They make a kit for this ya know, but I am guess you are making your own... Found the manufacturers: http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/hanging_p...ssemblies.html http://www.kugelkomponents.com/produ...akesystem.html If anything, you can use it for examples...

Proportioning valves are they all the same? It seems like with the stepped cylinders in the master cylinder you wouldn't even need one... but I'm not sure. Any insight? Did your parts truck even have one? *edit* while I'm asking you questions... one thing about those windows we've been discussing for a year now. To make the templates, I would need to have all the stuff that comes with the kit except the windows, to make sure if fit the opening correctly. Do you think it would be possible to get the kit minus the glass so I can make the template? Last edited by smashingchuck; 01-19-2008 at 03:44 AM. |

Re: brake question
Prop valves should be the same for the JB1 brakes, boosted or not from all I can tell...
I can't get you the kit minus the glass.... as for the template, he would just need the pattern for the window opening, the rest of the door would be the same (unless you channelled the truck)
