What did you get done? 01/13

This was my first weekend since early December that I had off, and didn't have a ton of plans. I spent the weekend with my family doing things around the house. I got a lot of things done that needed attention, but nothing related to my truck.

I had hoped to work on my 77, but spent a few "quality" hours with my family instead.

Ram Air box installed

Sorry the pic shows it "installed" on the sidewalk. When I first tried to drop it on, the center all-thread wasn't long enough. Off to the hardware store. No camera when I got it on. But it sure is looking pretty on the honkin' sidewalk.

Worked on my core support so I can "flush mount" my radiator. I'll also fill all the holes and smooth it like the insides of my front fenders.Check here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=274191

Hate to do it..... but How about the specs & pricing? C4 related parts or?????

Me? Not enough. I did the garage tour for a fellow board memner to show him my perspective of Bags-101 on Sat night.

Today we watched the better team advance to the NFC finals vs. Dallas. Good luck Giants..... You'll need it against Mr. Farve & co.

Re: What did you get done? 01/13

Got pulled over on Saturday night for no tag light, so I went to Auto Zone today to pick up something to keep me from getting pulled over again. Got some kinda LED light that goes over top of the plate and uses the same top two screws as the license plate. Started it late, so I had to finish it in the dark in the driveway in the cold. Plus, I look like some kinda ricer kid with a neon plate, too. On the bright side, my 4 year old girl thinks it's cool.

Re: What did you get done? 01/13

Finally got around to installing the 2" front springs I have been sitting on.
I was only expecting 1-1/2" as I already had some "lifted" springs on there but they were shot.
Turns out I got around 2-1/4"; maybe they will settle in some?

Finally got around to selling the camper shell on the back. I didn't wan't it, and I was able to get rid of it quick for $175. Pulled off the grille, and put it back on, just messing around and getting my self familliar with my truck. First truck. I love it.

Re: What did you get done? 01/13

I sat in my 80 and pretended I was driving it for about 10 minutes, then worked on it's new engine for a few hours on Saturday. Today I changed the oil in my 96, and washed it up nice and shiny like.

With any luck, and a unexpected influx of cash from somewhere, I'll hopefully get the new engine running near the end of Feburary. Gonna pull the cab and box again becuase I gotta re-plumb the fuel tank and build a custom transmission crossmember for the new transmission as well. Just be easier to work on things from above, than below.

Spent too much money on the truck and girlfriend. On the plus side, truck is done. I won't have to touch anything on it for a while.

Click the link in my siggy to see the latest on the truck.

Hung around the house, the only truck related thing was to wash and detail the old girl. I did make one purchase Friday evening, 1990 Mustang GT convertible, 120,000, orginal owner, for 3 grand, could not pass up the deal, I know its a FORD, but I figured I could clean it up and turn it for a profit at the very least.

Any one know of a good Mustang forum site? Got sure good info from here should work for a Mustang too.

Re: What did you get done? 01/13

Spent the weekend hunting for my power/acceleration problem. Found it. Busted cam lobe.

Now I'm debating whether or not to fix the old motor or buy a new one. The truck is newish to me and I don't know the history, so I might have to bit the bullet and get a motor.

Re: What did you get done? 01/13

I spent all day Saturday paying the price for going the cheap route on the drop I did a few months ago. i bought some second hand drop spindles originally and they didnt fit so i just cut the coils until I could afford the right spindles. Well the other day i hear some thuds coming from the front of my truck. Apparently the cut coils had enough and I was riding on the bumpstops. I ordered spindles, 2" drop springs and lowered shocks on Wednesday and put it all together on Saturday. Its at the alignment shop right now.

It rides sooooooo much better with the new parts.

Re: What did you get done? 01/13

After finalizing the new rear feed fuel lines for the TPI I realized the Large cap distributor isn't going to work, so now I need to get a new small cap distributor. Debating on going with Aftermarket since I will be turboing the motor.
Bolted down my EGR block off and thats about it other than taking the Burb for its "drive" to make sure everything is fine.

Sorted out my newest parts (ps and ac brkts for the 250), acid dipped an old air line seperator to use as an oil tank on my allis, and tried to get mor Allis done so I can get it out of the garage and get a truck in!

What did you get done?
No work on the truck, but i did finally hide my wires for my new tv i installed... I also added a seperate outlet in the garage to power my compressor. I had a 15amp that was running the whole garage.. ALWAYS popped. SO i dedicated a 20 amp to just the compressor.. It was fun and its nice having a compressor that doesnt turn off all the ligths when it turns on. ahaha

Pulled the bed off my body man's project truck. I worked on a ford van 2 that was interesting to say the least.
