It's stupid question time
Yes I have been here long enough to know this, but I have over
1 million things racing through my mind right now so here it goes, What is the difference between a 2wd and a 4wd Blazer BODY? (Yes, I know the frames, but on the body is the trans hump it?) EDIT - Also, what about the body mount kits? They the same?

Re: It's stupid question time
My 2wd tub has the high hump also. I know "some" 2wd's did have the low hump though. I'm no expert, but I don't believe there is any difference besides that.

Re: It's stupid question time
All I know about is the hi/low hump. I heard someplace that 4speed trucks go the high hump no matter what.
Did the 2wd's have the gravel guards behind the rear bumper?

Re: It's stupid question time
The only difference I knew of was one had a drive axle in front and one didn't Sorry Luv couldn't resist, stupid answer time I guess
So, is GQ going 2wd? I hate to see it not finished but I think you'd have a really high dollar rig when completed with the body being as perfect as it is. |

Re: It's stupid question time
I was under the impression that as far as 2wds went, any type of column shift (autos, 3-on-the-tree) got a low hump, but a floor shift got the high hump. This would be the same for 2wd blazers or C20 trucks. On the other hand, any 4wd would be high hump because of the transfer case shifter, regardless of the type of transmission. So in other words a 2wd Blazer with a 4 speed would have a high hump...am I right??? Or did I just add to the stupid question collection?
Oh, and according to LMC (take it for what its worth) the body mount kit is the same regardless of blazer, jimmy, 2wd, 4wd, year model, etc...all the same.

Re: It's stupid question time
You're almost correct. 2wd's with TH400's also got a high hump for clearance. They have no holes in the hump. I believe that's what mine came with, or the hump has been switched.

Re: It's stupid question time
Yeah, my 2wd 72 has a high hump with a 4-speed. Coulda had either, but I am pretty sure the 4x only had the high hump as previously stated.

Re: It's stupid question time
My 72 2/wd CST Blazer came from the factory with a 4spd manual transmission and a low hump.I bought this from the original owner and I know that nothing was changed or modified.

Re: It's stupid question time
I think Rokcrln had a 2wd blazer with a bolt in low hump cover. So when you guys say you have a low hump, is it bolt in or just a solid floor like the trucks?

Re: It's stupid question time
WoW, Holy old thread Batman for sure. "Merlot" (2wd) was low hump fixed,
the "72" (2wd) I sold 5150 was low hump fixed, "YFTSB" (Was "GQ" 4wd is now a 2wd) has a high hump bolted in. The other "2" (4wd) that I also had and sold were high hump bolt in's also. Merlot (2wd) also had Gravel guards.
