Has anyone removed the stock dashpad and done something else with it? I am thinking of making a fiberglass piece to "fill" the gap. Pictures? thanks

ive seen " shaved" pad where you just weld up the holes and leave it smooth

I have to say one thing on this. Think of your passenger. That is there as a safety device; sort of. If you remove it and get in an accident you might be safe behind the wheel but your passengers might get a face full of metal.

thats somewhat true, but ALOT of people have older stuff with all metal dash's, and theres a bunch of people who sap in other metal dash panels, like 59' impalas, ect

A while back I looked through an original GM brochure which listed the dash pad as a safety device... I burst into laughter. I mean, I guess it is better than slamming into steel, but a 3 point seat belt was a much better invention.

Personally, I like the look of the dash pads

I am going to put in 5 point harnesses, so safety should not be a problem, however I do see your point. Thanks

Horn rings went out when padded dashes came in.

Never taken it off but my 69 was like this when I got it.

This is my parts truck. I won't be using this dash pad. Oh, PO painted the inside with a paintbrush. The truck was originally white.

Theres a member here by the user name of mcc bri, who is doing just that.

from the looks of it, he welded, then smoothed.

not finished by any means, i think it could look rad.
