any way to test gauges?
Is there any way to test a temp gauge without a truck to plug it into? I hate to buy a new gauge if the original is still good. The only reason I question it is that the needle, with no power to the dash, rests on H and not C.

Re: any way to test gauges?
You can do a static test if you can access the back of the gauge. You should read between 40 and 50 ohms between the two posts that have the resister connecting them. The resister is the white strip between the two posts.
I applied 12 volts to the two posts on a spare gauge I have and the needle went from above hot to below cold. I don't have a picture to show the posts on the back of the gauge but if I find one I will post it. HTH
