I6 Swap

Hello,

The search function seems to be down and I have read through all pages to find info on getting the inline 6 out of my truck. It's an 82 short bed with a 3 speed manual I picked out of my grandpa's barn. I would love to put a 454 or caddy 500 in (as I have found) but I am new to Chevy trucks and am looking for a comprehensive write up for a swap like this. What I have read is trucks that already had a 350 in them. Do companies make kits for this or are they traditionally pieced together? Where can I find more info? Thanks in advance.

Thanks - I missed that one. Does anyone know what motors will bolt to that tranny or if anyone has done a writeup?

Re: I6 Swap

Welcome to the site.
Swaping from an I-6 is easier than you think. Is the I-6 a 230, 250 or 292?
You can find information on perches here http://www.persh.org/Pickup/perches.htm

BB Caddy brackets are available too. Go here http://www.cad500parts.com/parts.htm

A Caddy 500 weighs less than a 454!! Torque is crazy too!!

Re: I6 Swap

Thanks for the info. I have the 250 and the more research I do I think the 454 is the way to go. I have read that the bellhousing will match up to the big block but I am wondering what other pieces I will need to make this work. Any ideas?
