Loose Steering
My 72 K5 steers too easy. I would like to improve the feel of the steering since I plan to start doing more towing.
What does changing the steering gearbox to a late model type do? Does it give the steering better feel or what? Right now it takes very little effort to steer and it is loose. Any suggestions would be great.

Re: Loose Steering
I would try to adjust the play in the steering box and see if it makes a difference. Also check the tie rod ends.

Re: Loose Steering
is the steering sloppy like Eichorst69 sugests? Or is the steering pump too stong? If it too much pump, then remove the high pressure line on the pack of the pump, then remove the fitting, inside there is a spring. yours is probably broken. Locate a replacement (I'd hit a steering gear box shop, or a junk yard) and get a replacement.

Re: Loose Steering
Yes Longhorn man gearbox seems to be too strong. My blazer is at the mechanics right now. They have tried the adjustment and checked the steering linkage. They did replace the joint (I believe it is the rag-joint) and said it seems to help a little. I will send the suggestion you said. They asked me to ask aroung here to gain any other suggestions. Thanks.
