vortec nightmare
Ok guys the truck i am working on is a 2000 Tahoe i know it might not fit in this forum but it is an older body style the 88-99 one with a 350 some kind of limited ed (i think its just the old chevy parts left over)...
Anyways heres the problem a few months ago the tranny started acting up not going in first just 2nd and o/d only since it has 230k on the ticker i thought sure the trannny needs rebuilt found a guy local had it rebuilt still did the same thing. He took it to a shop for me and they said the ecu was bad.I went on ebay bought one had it programed and put it in that fixed my trans problem all gears working then. Heres where it gets good all this time the ses light is still on after i get the new puter in the light is still on so i take to the zone had the codes read they say misfire on the number one cyl. and the crank sensor is no good.Ok fine i can see the crank sensor but not the misfire i swap it out and the light is still on.I did a tune up on the thing a few months ago all new stuff less than 10k since. So i try to narrow my problem down i get 1 new plug and go home swap it swap the 1,3 wires around and go back they run another test and says misfire but no cyl.I get a new cap and rotor thinking maybe a hairline crack in it or somthing swap it on fire it up and its still on.Now my idle is very low i think to low but not sure only like 500 rpm has been this way for awhile but other than that it still runs strong. This is a real problem i have been dealing with for 2 months now and need to get it figured out asap becouse the inspection has been out since nov. 07 and they will not pass it with the ses light on any input would be great to help me out.If i have to i guess i can pull the dash and unplug the light but it may still fail the emmisions....Sorry so long |
