window cranks
I've found that chevy's I've owned always break the window cranks really easy. Anyone else have this problem if so I know how to help fix the problem. My current pickup a 76 bonanza has cranks that came off as far as I can tell a 65 chevy car they have a smaller handle at the end but seem to be made of better metal. They haven't broken yet and have been on the pickup for at least 20 years. The 73 I use to drive they broke all the time and the windows didn't crank any harder then the 76 does.

Re: window cranks
it helps if you lubricate the window channels (WD40 )and once in a while grease the mechanism with white grease or something.. i agree tho the casting material on our generation of truck is incredibly weak mine usually strip the little gears on the inside
when i take the doors apart i lube stuff and then i never have a problem

Re: window cranks
I agree with lubing them occasionally.
Also, I have tried #2 in the below picture 4 time both GM & "HELP" brand. They fail quick. Found two of the #4 at the junkyard and have had no trouble for a year and a half. My 2 cents. - Dav

Re: window cranks
This is what my window cranks look like the handle is a little smaller. The whole thing is made of better metal. Far as I can tell it came off a 60's chevy car.

Re: window cranks
Those old '60s cranks are better made for sure. I tend to pilfer them at wrecking yards when I'm lucky enough to find them. My fat fingers like the longer knobs, too.
