seat belt restoration

I want to have my seat belts restored. My interior is saddle. That ssnake- oyl company says they can make my black belts saddle color. Has anyone changed color on belts? Am I better off to try to scrounge up some saddle belts? A complete set of 3 may be hard to find.

I'm cheap, so I say you could pop the plastic covers off the belts, bleach them and then dye them. You can do all this in the washing machine, just put each one in a pillow case and tie the pillow case up prior to washing in the bleach solution and subsequent dye. It may take more than one cycle. You can even use an old crappy belt for a test.

I'd just dye them black again, and color key them with black carpetting.
I would never bleach seat belts. Bleach weakens fabric.

I couldn't agree more. Seat belts shouldn't be bleached. I wonder if rit dye will restore my faded black belts.

I had some blue ones in the old GMC I used to have that i died, they stayed pretty decent lookin for 2 or 3 years of daily driver use (I wear them every time i drive).

i've died black belts before with good sucess. never tried other colors but see no reason why it won't work.

The guy who does the ones for Snakeoyl does nice work. I have seen his belts at charlotte and they look correct when he is through. I did not, however, use him but instead had my lap belts redone by Gary Terry CS-m.com. He does a geat job and should have any color that you want.

I had mine restored by Snake-Oyl. They completely rechromed, painted, new fabric, everything!! They made them look new. I also changed the color of the belt to match my seats. Sent them a sample and they matched it perfect. They arent cheap but you get what you pay for.
