Difference between GMC & Chevy front ends?

I am trying to find out about the Difference between GMC and Chevrolet front clips on our trucks. Are the core supports different? Does the grill work with 67-68 or 68-72 hoods and fenders? Thanks guys!

Re: Difference between GMC & Chevy front ends?

67-72 GMC and 67-68 Chevy are interchangable. Of course the 67 has no side markers.

Also remember the GMC uses quad lites and chevy just two so technically the core supports are different.

Because the hood is different on the 69-72 GMC it requires a different hood latch assembly.

69-72 Chevy fenders and core supports do not directly interchange with the others.

Re: Difference between GMC & Chevy front ends?

I believe the GMC and Chevy core supports are identical with the exception of the headlight mounts. I removed the chev mounts and swapped to quad style when I couldn't find a decent GMC core support. I've heard mentioned there are other differences as well and the Chev core support may not swap in correctly. I hope that's not the case! Anyone done this?

67-68 chevy - 67-72 gmc interchange

69-72 chevy interchange

the only thing different on the core supports is the headlights

Re: Difference between GMC & Chevy front ends?

ok so if I am getting this right you have to run 67-68 Chevy fenders and hood on all 67-72 GMC...... ANd since the GMC have the quad headlights I would believe that the core support must be different....?

Almost... technically you need a 69-72 hood for a 69-72 gmc grill (but it still uses the 67/68 chevy or 67-72 gmc fenders) BUT from what I understand, you can swap around trim pieces to make it all work???

Also, 67 chevy/gmc fenders have no side markers lights.

Re: Difference between GMC & Chevy front ends?

So if I swap the core support out in my 67 GMC, I could put a chevy grill in it & still use the GMC fenders ???

Weld up all the trim holes... from what I understand.... yes but I don't know if the 67 chevy grill mounting holes would be there or not...???
