Re: how much do these trucks weigh?

My long box 3/4 ton 2wd 72 weighs 5000 lbs. give or take a bit. My 72 Blazer 4X4 weighs 5100 lbs. The weights most people use are the shipping weights that the manufacturer publishes. I have a habit of stopping at the sclales when I'm on a trip and weihging whatever I'm driving.

4300 lbs. Detroit Steel baby. One day I just know I'm going to rear-end one of these little acuras, and convert it back to its original material before someone made a car out of it: old baby diapers and recycled beer cans.

Wait wait, what? You can DO that? I assume you mean the weigh stations for the big rigs?

They won't get all pissed at you if you drive up to the open weigh stations and get your normal car/truck weighed?

@4370 here, empty with a 1/2 tank of gas. Had to talk the landfill attendant into allowing me to step onto the scale, as long as I didn't slam on the brakes.

Re: how much do these trucks weigh?

Just got the steel bed floor in me old lonhgorn last summer......she scaled @ 4600, with a 1/2 tank fuel & driver(4340, if I take my 260 lb azz out!). Now most guys will claim around 5000lbs on a longhorn, but she has 1/2 ton underpinnings, no heat/air, no front inners or bumper, alumn heads/intake,no door glass (no comment there Andy).....oh & there is 4" of steel missing out of the middle of the top. A 1/2 ton long step that I scaled on a reg basis went 3840,1/2 tank fuel/ less driver. crazy L

Not necessarily ... Had mine weighed several years ago at the county yard. LWB '72 K20 was 5300# empty, with heavy spare (16" split rim & 8-ply tire) and twin saddle tanks in place, but dunno how much fuel on board.

That was after I shoveled the dirt out. It was 11,300# loaded, for a nice even 3 ton payload -- over 40+ miles of mountain highway with my wife and two young sons. I wouldn't recommend it...

LOL! Post of the day!
Maybe that's why the fuel mileage varies so much because any given truck can weigh +/-1000# more just because it has painted bumpers or it because came ochre from the factory!

As long as you pay for your weigh ticket, they don't care what you drive. I used to cross the CAT scales here at the pilot station once a week.
The only weight I can remember off the top of my head was the old SWB... small block/TH350 short/fleet, 3950 without me or any fuel to speak of. Plastic tool box in the back with not much in it, spare tire, but all 5 wheels were alluminum, So was the intake for that matter... had headers instead of manifolds, and the exhaust was 2 3 foot pipes with cherry bombs.
Oh, and a pack od smokes on the dash.

Al... I thought you were gonna do the door glass last summer? You should look at cruisin that sucker to the board meet this summer, it won't be too far from you.

Re: how much do these trucks weigh?

well since it has veried so much i will just have to get my truck weighed when its done. I realized after posting that there is a truck scale at my work so if i finish this truck by the summer i can probally talk someone into letting me drive on the scale.

This is a pic I took while sitting in my truck while I was parked on a scale at a moving company. I weighed 210 at the time so that makes my longbed 3850

Re: how much do these trucks weigh?

After reading through this I got a little curious and went and checked mine out.
69 LWB, 2wd, coil springs out back, 307, TH350, Bench Seat, A lil extra stereo weight, Rotted trailing arms sitting in the bed, 5/8 tank of gas (original tank) came in a 3,840 lbs. Drop the ancient trailing arms out and get rid of the stereo and its more like 3,750.

Re: how much do these trucks weigh?

I'm really curious about this, can anyone add any more info to their weights?

I6/SBC/BBC?, 1/2 ton/3/4 ton?, Trans?, Drums all around/disks?, stepside/fleet, LWB/SWB?, Bench/Buckets?, Steel/Wood bed?

Seems there are alot of variables.

Re: how much do these trucks weigh?

Sure,

Mine is a stripper model short/fleet steel bed 1/2 ton with coil suspension, disk brakes, all iron small block, th350, 12 bolt rear, no a/c and PS and no power brakes.

I often run down to the local dump with house stuff to throw away, and we have truck scales here at work and both say just shy of 3700 without me in it.

Pretty light, my Chevelle weighs the same darn near

Re: how much do these trucks weigh?

Sure I will give u my weight 71 GMC LWB 292 only option really ps she weighed in at a flat 4010 last time I ran a load of scrap metal. This is without my rear in the truck and running on fumes. Plus I have about 350 in bumper weight on this rig so that will put me 3660 with out bumpers?

One other thing to think about these weights may also be affected by the amount of Bondo on a truck maybe I am thinking to much but I have a lot of that stuff right now in my bed sides
