Odd color combo.

OK I think I've got one here I've never seen but somebody always manages to pull another out of their arse so let's see. The owner said the roof of this truck was originaly medium olive. The yellow looks original to the truck. I've never seen a yellow green combo. The truck also looks like a good start to a project. The seller did a good job with his description and his pics. More sellers should be this detailed.

Re: Odd color combo.

A good friend of mine had a 1971 cheyanne super in that color combo in high school ( mid 80's ). It was a 350 auto fully loaded . Super clean , low miles , all original . The timing chain broke and his dad had it hauled off .

Re: Odd color combo.

Other than white, medium olive is shown as an accent color available with dark olive or light yellow(grapefruit) in reversed combinations as well.I know there were other colors produced, but they are an exception to the price list.

Re: Odd color combo.

I've seen dark olive with a yellow roof.I think the one you posted must have been a dealer COPO.Maybe a John Deere dealer?

Re: Odd color combo.

Here's some scans from a 1972 GMC Colors & Trims dealer book. All colors were available in the deluxe 2 tone schemes (white/body color/white/body color). The close up scan shows the custom two tone combos - gotta love the 70's!! Also, a glovebox door from a '71 I parted a few years ago.

A glass company here in Knoxville had one with glass racks mounted on the sides of the bed. It is an unusual combo.

Re: Odd color combo.

You're right about his description. Based on his description alone i'd pay 1500 for it, and then with his description being accurate! It does seem like a pretty solid truck though. Should make a good project for someone.

Re: Odd color combo.

I acually own a 70 that is Yellow with Med Olive below the lower belt line. I always thought it was an odd combination and PO applied. I got the truck for parts so I never really looked into it.

The other very odd interior issue is that it seems to be Aqua Marine Blue. Thought this might have been a PO swap out also.

I've got photos on my other computer but it crashed a few weeks ago. I'll try to get some in a few days when I go back to the farm and pull the glove box id also.

I have seen that combo many times. I also owned a 72' Cheyenne Super dark olive with the light olive top and center. It also had the white herring bone interior and the BB 402/TH400 AC. Here is a pic with my 73' Chinook 11' Camper.

I went to the farm today and will load pics when I can.

This truck is Med Olive, Yellow, Med Olive Some Previous owner did a white top conversion on it. I have photos of this also as there is a 1 inch gap of green before the door seals.

Photos soon...

Re: Odd color combo.

Joe the glovebox door you showed listed both cheyenne and super z84 and ye9 I have seen that before, but I did not think they would list upper and lower moldings as they were part of the package on the super. It looks like it was built in Janesville and is a really early 72, by chance do you remember the build date on the drivers door. My 71 is late but lists like a later 72. It was built in Atlanta and sold near Savannah Ga at coastal chevrolet. Sorry for the hijack.

Re: Odd color combo.

just for grins I will bring this back to the top. the Cab top used to be Medium olive also. Must have been an odd combo to have been paintd over. Seems like they should hvae painted the bottom also.

Not sure if I am going to bring this one back. I like the yellow but not the yellow and green.
