Hi,

What should I put between the fender and the bedside when reinstalling my fenders? Will a good bead of seam sealer do the job or should I use the "kit" that the vendors sell?

I used the beaded material plus a good Ureathane sealer in making sure it would not leak between the fender and bedside. Although it does not leak, I am dreading the day when I have to remove a fender as it will probably be stuck.

If I had it to do over, I would go with a good layer of 3M strip caulk without the beaded material.

The welting sticks out to me, just use a good seam sealer, thats what the factory used.

What about welding the gap between the fender and bed. Anyone done this? Or is that a bad idea. I havn't done it but wondered about it.

Thats a question for Frizzle Fry, LFD or Porter, they all have sic welding skills. I could weld it on there, but then to make it look right is a whole other story.

I think welding is a bad idea. If you ever damage a fender you would have to replace the fender and a bedside. You would never be able to remove it. If both surfaces are painted some of the orginal dumb dumb would work. I went with the beaded felt. Lots less messy. It would also be hard to weld the top of the fender without taking a chance of burning holes in it.
