jones'en for my truck

been a long time since i drove the old girl some time in early dec whe the snow first hit. today i went out to see if she would fire it hasn't been above zero for a couple days and in the minus 20's at night.well she cracked right off and after about 10 seconds ideled on her own. the tranny lube was so thick she wanted to go even in neutral. i'm working up the courage to take her to town and buy her a drink [ plates expired in november] felt real goodto get in a real truck again and hear that rumble somthing that little dakota winter beater will never have

Re: jones'en for my truck

Well at least you guys get to drive your trucks. Mine's in pieces still. I've been jones'en for mine too. I've never driven it and I want to get it built so I can drive it.

Re: jones'en for my truck

We had snow after Thanksgiving, then it warmed up and rained enough to wash the roads. So,I drove my two drivers about a month until last Wednesday. It snowed Thursday and it`s cold now. They may be parked awhile now.

Re: jones'en for my truck

I haven't driven my '71 C-10 farm truck for about 2 weeks for one reason or other and today I couldn't stand it any longer so I fired it up and drove it into town to visit with my grandson to talk about 67-72 Chevy trucks.

It is just an old farm truck but it is a blast to drive. I like driving it better than my '92 GMC duallie.

Hopefully this year I will be able to bring myself to making it undriveable for a while to do some updates on it and so much needed body work.

Re: jones'en for my truck

I know how it feels to be building one you never got to drive. I sure wish my bodyman would get in gear and paint it. He keeps his plate full to overflowing. If I have to wait much longer (almost 6 yrs total building so far) I am very tempted to go get it, finish the wiring and a few other loose ends. Bolt on the bed and drive it as is. I sure don't like having to wait on someone else to get something done before I can move forward.

Re: jones'en for my truck

I finally decided to buy a battery for mine - it was always a headache to get it started, using a jump box, charging battery overnight. Never give it a thought the battery was bad. Soooo, put in a new one and it fired before I finished turning the key! I drove it friday saturday and sunday running to the hardware store and grocery store, etc, etc. Even to get breakfast for the family sunday morning. Tweaked the dizzy a little between stops and when it was running nicely, took it up on the highway - hit 75 and reallllyyyy wanted to shift into 4th... it's only 3 on the tree. I ran a few miles and got off at my exit - it was awesome! I think it was some time Monday the smile wore off.
