What did you get done? 01/20

I worked this weekend so I didn't get much done. It rained all week and Saturday was clear so I washed all my daily drivers.

I had been trying to put brake pads on my 06 Silverado for a couple of weeks, and finally got a few minutes to get them on. The old pads weren't as bad as I thought, but I'm good for a while now.

What did you get done?

Nothing this weekend.... it was single digits outside each morning, and the wife and I are trying to get over the crud.... I hope everyone else's weekend was better.

Changed the turn signal combo switch in my 96... Now I am down to replacing the stereo headunit, the windsheild, and the remote start module... Man this truck has been costing big bucks recently...

Re: What did you get done? 01/20

I got alot done, well what seems like alot to me. Two days ago I went to the Pick N' Pull and scored a set of sports mirrors, a new tail light lens, a new headlight bezel, and a chrome front bumper all for under $60! The bumper was in great condition was only $17! Well so since then I sold the camper from the back of my truck, painted the grille black except for the chrome strips, added the chrome bumper and replaced the tail light lense. ALL IN A DAY. And for tomorrow, I might hit Pick N' Pull again for a new hood, and fender. Hopefully the sports mirrors will get installed too. Long weekend.

Re: What did you get done? 01/20

I finished cleaning out the garage so I could get the Nova inside to finsh up somethings. Also I swapped out my 79/80 bezels and trim for the correct ones. Now all I have to do is get the early core support installed to run the 74 grill.

Re: What did you get done? 01/20

Part 1 of my "hardware update"

Today we pulled the old motor. Of course all the attachments had to go too, so that took up about half the afternoon.

Sitting in my buddy's shop while we pull out all the accessories... (the shop donor is in the pic)

And actually pulling the motor:

That would be me, with the motor on my lap. Actually I'm guiding it out past the headers. For some reason the passenger side was really tough to go past.

At any rate, we got it out and hooked up to the engine stand, ready to tear to the core. I discovered one of the freeze plugs is corroded, the header gasket is shredded on the driver side, and a few bolts missing that were supposed to bolt into the tranny. Yeah, so good thing a crate engine is going in...

Re: What did you get done? 01/20

Nothing accomplished so far this weekend, but I am hoping to change out my heater core tomorrow if it doesn't rain. I'm getting tired of the cold and the smell of antifreeze.

I used it as a truck twice this weekend. I used it to haul a bunch of steel on Saturday for a welding table and a couple of other things. The top will be 2' X 4' and 1/2" thick. I also went fishing (mostly joyriding...) again today with my borrowed boat. It was cold, but I need to enjoy it as much as I can before my Mom's boyfriend wants it back.

Re: What did you get done? 01/20

Swapped out the 2.42 rear end in my '87 for a 3.73 posi from an '86. Everything went well, and as a bonus the '86 drums are larger. I can feel the difference in braking. I definitely need to throw that 700r4 in there now. I'm topped out at about 65mph and my speedo reads 90!

Also picked up some storage bins and upper cabinets for the garage organization this spring.

Re: What did you get done? 01/20

Well, I am having a 700R4 built and won a drive shalf off of eBay that is the shorter one for the new tranny. Hope this will help some of the MPG. Other than that-nothing.

Re: What did you get done? 01/20

Did some cosmetic work to a couple of mini bikes in my posession.

I also leaned on the core support of my '75 and gazed lovingly at its engine, with a beer in my hand for approximately 3-4 minutes. Does that count?

EDIT: I guess you have experienced the odd feeling of having your rear bumper in the water and your exhaust blowing bubbles, too, huh?

many a time..especially with some big boats.flat ramps and tidal changes.as long as you keep blowing out and don't breathe in you'll be okay.besides it sounds cool.

Drove up to Dallas to pick up a set of tires to put the 20s back on my '03. Not much else but stay inside and keep warm.
