1/2 ton with 1 ton srpings and shocks

On a 2wd truck, can you put springs and shocks from a 1 ton on a 1/2 ton? Are the springs the same length just different strengths?
thanks

The center bolts will be a different size so you will have to either drill out the rear axle holes, or grind the head of the center bolt down to fit.

1 ton coils shouldn't be all that harsh with a Cummins 6BT on top of them. I also recommend Monroe Gas Magnum shocks.

There is also a heavy duty front spring option for half tons. I used to have them on my '86. Most of the auto parts stores carry them for about $80-$90 per pair.

I would also reccommend the Monroe shocks. All the old techs around my town love them.

For the fronts look for a set of coils for a 1/2 ton with a 454 or any other big block and you should have what you want easily.

Re: 1/2 ton with 1 ton srpings and shocks

my truck was originally a diesel so it should already have heavier springs in the front. Im not sure what they are the equivalent of but i assume 1 ton would still be stiffer. So they will fit?
