Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
My project has taken many twists and turns. I started out with a real nice Arizona big block c10 with A/C in awesome shape. I just thought I would put a killer set of wheels on the truck and let it go at that. Next thing I knew I had the truck apart. I installed the nice trailing arm air ride tech kit with tubular front a arms. Everything was fine until I joined this group and then all of a sudden the clouds parted, the sun came out and there was the Dropmember. OK, so much for my air ride technologies stuff and a freshly powder coated chasis. I had to have the Dropmember and thanks to Nathan I am starting over (thanks nathan for costing me another $12,000). I had already ordered my Bon Speed Atom wheels.......24 x 10 in the rear and 22 x 8.5 in the front sporting 35 series "rubber bands". Damn, no side wall on these tires. Unfortunately, I had welded in the Air Ride Techs C notch which has to go. I need to lay the frame man and there is no doubt about it..........i hope!! I just going to have to cut that frame and carve out a bigger c notch so i can drop my rear end to the ground. Any suggestions? I wil rely on help from Nathan and whomever wants to help me this this accomplished. I have a fresh big block with plenty of shiney stuff to poke under the hood, suicide doors, one piece side windows, killer dash, flush fitting front window...maybe back window, and what ever else we can do to make this truck as smoooooooooooooooooth as possible. Yep, I just had to put the 71 c10 4x4 in the picture. Sits on 41.5 inch iroks with the tits still on the tires. I have installed the Kodiak power side step to get up in the truck.(I may be selling this truck as too many projects are going on at once) Check out my GMC shortbed crew cab duramax with a 12" FTS suspension lift, 40" tires, and 22 x 12 KMC wheels (the c10 sits a little higher). Man am i a truck nerd. Had to share. My wife thinks I am looking at porno at night but I really checkin out the trucks on this web site...........its too cool.

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
that would suck to cut that c-notch out, especially after powdercoating that joker. how about you unbolt and keep that dropmember and do me a huge favor by selling me your existing notched frame for my project for $1,500-$2,000? or you could trade up (+ cash from me) for my virgin frame, which is damned rust free, no pits, no twists or bends no BS, just a nice solid frame (new cab mounts, too)
i bet i know a boardmember that lives less than 25 miles from my house that has (or can get) a virgin SWB frame for you to use ... Or you could have mine, I guess i'm in the midst of an LS1 swap, engine is running but would be easily pulled if needed, along with the cab and other peripherals.

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
Awesome trucks, garage and projects! I agree that your frame is begging for the step notch. Of course I don't know if you would come out ahead to sell that frame by the time you had another one powder coated. (Of course it's worth a shot!) I'm looking forward to seeing your project come together! And bring that K10 to the Nats in Maggie Valley so I have somebody else in my class!
Oh, And it takes Nads to cut up a truck that looked that good to begin with! I salute you! Last edited by see ten; 01-24-2008 at 07:00 AM. |

those wheels look sharp. The frame looks so good just sitting there, I would just trailer it around and show it off. Can't wait to see what you turn it in to.

Cool pics and SUPER COOL shop! Can you give exact wheel backspacing and tire specs? Keep this pics coming. I think Nathan is coming up with his own back half,... so keep us posted.

Looking sweet! Can't wait to see what it is going to look like with the body and sheetmetal back on. I like the wheels. Those are the other set i was thinking about. Very nice.

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
Nathan said he was coming up with something and i hope to be on his list. The tires are 275/30-24 and 235/30-22. Backspace on the front wheels are 5.5" and 5" backspace on the rears. They are nitto tires and there is hardly any side wall at all but they look cool. I like when the sidewalls are stretched inward. I figured this would give me more clearance. One wheel was damaged in shipping so I am sending one of the wheels back. I really was in a delima on the rears. I wanted the rear wheels tucked way up in the fenderwells and tried to get a short tire so it would work.

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
I thought about that. It was a hell of a lot of work to clean the frame and expecially taking the crossmembers out..that was a dirty job. I will post some pics of my cab hopefully tomorrow. Yep, I will want to show this truck.
