rust damage

I'm sure some of you have had to deal with this at some point. I've got some rust that has formed and is pushing down on the upper windshield rubber on the passenger side. I'm affraid to remove the windshield! This being my first resto project, it just looks like a can of worms. Could I be looking at a possible roof replacement? How does something like this get fixed properly?

Re: rust damage

I agree - lots of cabs in junkyards - I know of three locally. Doesn't make much sense in SoCal to try to restore a rusty cab when there's so much iron available.

Re: rust damage

get a new cab, but you will still have rust to deal with. It's a the design flaw of these trucks. Rockers are manditory replacement, the rest of the lower area is hit and miss.

Welcome to the board!

Re: rust damage

Thanks for the input guys. Actually the rest of the cab is in good condition. Very minimal cancer in the rockers(but I have new ones), cowl is perfect, dash is uncut!! Floor is good. The only other area that needs major attention is the rail gutter. Maybe I'll shop for a cab.(damn!)
