Hello,
Sorry to continue to beat a dead horse, BUT
I have read quite a few responses about reprod tailgates and how bad they are about bowing. Been told by a local company that sells the reprod tailgate, that the CHEVROLET imprint one's are ALOT more sturdy than the smooth one??? Has anyone else heard this??...Or should I really strive to get an original tailgate from some of the great vendors/ folks on this forum...

If anyone has a tailgate in really good shape.....let me know....looking to buy ASAP....

ANYTHING that says "Chevrolet" no matter how old has to be licensed through GM and that costs $$$. So what you're really paying for is a little $$ for the cost of the stamping of the Chevrolet, but you're paying even more for the license.

If you're talking stepside tailgates, I've found them to be good quality. Many have complained the fleetside gates are weak, but I have no experience with them.

Even a GOOD (straight) original goes from $200-$400!!!

This has been discussed in great detail just do a search......If you are building a truck to cruise around in and enjoy the repro gate will be just fine but I would get the "Chevrolet" stamped one......if you are looking to use the truck as a truck when you are done then I would look for a descent used one. I would not even bother looking for nos unless you are going with all other nos metal but be prepared to pay for one of those....good luck

You don't have to get a chevrolet one. You can always buy a tailgate band
