Putting Factory AC on non AC 69 c10??
Well this is my first post to this forum. Very cool site.
I've got a few questions for the neighbors or anyone that has done what i'm trying, or anyone that can tell point out how stupid this might be. I've got a factory AC box, under dash unit, control head, and vents that I’ve scraped up here and there that I’d like to put on this non factory AC 69. From what I’ve read and seen, I’m for sure going to have to cut the dash for vents and firewall to fit the AC duct, but I’ve been told that I can modify the evaporator to run more efficiently using an 'expansion tube'?? I'm not really an ac guy, but figure I might be after all of this is done. Also any ideas on a compressor?? I currently have a 455 Buick and am not sure if the stock 69 Chevy would work with this motor and AC or not. Any tips or tricks would make my day. I know Vintage air is a lot easier, I think I’ll take the hard road rather then the one that needs a security code from the back of my credit card. Thanks |

Doesn't look like this is my motor. I'm running a 75 455 Buick Electra. But the other treads are helping alot. Thanks.

Any idea on the different orafice tube?? One guy said with a differnt tube some of the parts might be eliminated?? Or is there any other way to 'update' the system for reliability and ease??

I don't have any info on it but. There is a retrofit that eliminates the expansion valve and uses a orfice instead. Ive seen it in pics on here but will have to search to find them.
