Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
I'm wondering what you guys think of the bodyside molding on first gen Blazers.
I for one liked it but am now thinking they look better without. Perhaps I'm just used to seeing poorly aligned ratty looking trim pieces. or perhaps I just liking the cleaner look without trim. What do you think? |

Re: Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
I think it depends a lot on the truck and how it is built. I've owned 3 Blazers now. One with woodgrain trim, one without trim and my current truck has the black molding. I guess, I like them with & without.

Re: Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
my trim was shaved, but I wish it was still there. I've been slowly collecting pieces to put it back.

Re: Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
Trim looks great on a nice clean blazer with good paint...etc.
On the other hand, one that's going for the 'tough/rugged' look with off road q's, maybe not. |

Re: Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
I plan on using woodgrain on my 2wd but it was shaved on my 4wd. I also have a set of nos trim so I have to use it on something.

Re: Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
My reason for asking is- that I have a 72 Blazer model kit to paint. That trim will be a real challenge to paint on the sides, but sanding it smooth will be pretty touchy also.

Re: Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
Ya might as well try to paint it and see if it works. You can always smooth it later if you don't like it. Of course, once it's gone, that's it.
Which kit is it? I've got a diecast WIX Blazer I'm in the process of shaving. With that, I just had to remove the current molding and then fill the holes with puddy. The holes are filled and it is sanded, I just need to paint it now.

Re: Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
This is just a plastic AMT / Ertl 72 Blazer kit so it would sand easy. I just need to be careful not to over sand it.

I Think Lower Trim Is Only The Best On Two Tone Trucks And Blazers
Solid Paint Needs To Be Slick And Clean Just My Opinion |

Re: Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
Neither of mine have it, but I prefer the clean look with no emblems or anything

I agree; I'm a big fan of 2-tone trucks and I'd like to 2-tone my Jimmy (Blazer) with lower moldings & white on the bottom. I will be using a 67/68 front end on it so I'd like to go with the moldings from the same vintage as the factory never did that either. I would imagine that has already been done by someone out there - does anyone have any pictures with modified early moldings put on a Blazer?

Re: Opinions of Blazer side molding ?
This is not for everyone, but I went with the newer style side molding. Cheaper, I like the look, and helps with door dings. Easy to work with, cut mine with chop saw.

I'm personally a big fan of the side moldings.
