I have a 98 Chevy Silverado truck seat...it's the 40/20/40 i was wondering if anyone could help me out with what i need to do to install this seat. My truck is a 68 lo hump and came with a bench. And you in advance for your help.

You can approach a couple different ways. Some take the original seat mount and adapt it to the new seat.
Others have modified the floor board for the newer seat mounts. The most important thing is safely mounting the seat to the floor in case of an accident. Many have used steel plates on the bottom side of the cab floor for reinforcement. Of course you want to try to center the seat in the cab and give yourself the most comfortable position possible. A search should turn up some useful pictures and info.

Here's a link to my site showing my install of Silverado seats. I think mine are from a 1998 or 1999. They are comfy seats but I have to keep them a little to straight backed to have enough leg room. They sit you a little higher and a bit closer to the dash, so be aware of that.

So they actually put you closer to the dash? I thought since they were higher that you had more leg room

Yep, I'm definitely sitting closer to the dash. The seats are very comfy but I wish I could have them reclined more without loosing even more leg room.

At one point I think I may have posted measurements, I'll have to see if I can dig them up for you.

Here's a pic of me before I had the interior finished. I'm right at 6' and you can get an idea of how your leg room is.

Has anyone ever either A) Fabbed up new brackets for the Silverado seats or B) sectioned the base to make it sit lower/fit better?

I've got both a pair of van seats out of an unkown vehicle (swapped for my bench) and also a pair of '99-05 Silverado seats...the van seats are nice, but too tall. Silverado seats are too tall and sit too far forward. I'm around 6'2''.

I'm not sure you could cut enough out of the base to make any real difference in regards to how close the seats are to the dash area. They are so tall that even if you cut some of the base, I think the back of the seat will still be resting on the back of the cab.

This pic shows the height pretty well. The seat backs are right against the cab in this pic.

And don't get me wrong, these seats are great, but if you're bigger than 6' your gonna be very cramped.
