I bought an old set of gauges that dont look very nice so if i wanna change back to my old ones i can do so without kicking myself!!!

I got 'em too. Didn't get the blue L.E.D.'s though, my dash lights are the PC194 variety where the bulb and the base are one unit and they are smaller in diameter than the standard base.
I painted my needles too with spray paint and a fine hair paint brush.

ot.. but can you post more pics of your head unit? how did you get a 1.3 din in there?

how much of a pain were they to install...

I got about 5 hours on the dining table putting mine in, But my odometer found it's way back to zip as well some how.

They were VERY easy to install. I just used 2 small drops of dish soap in the little applicator bottle then filled it with water like the instructions said.
Clean and dry the face of the gauge.
Peal the overlay off it's backing, give the sticky side 1 or 2 stritz's of water then slip the overlay over the needle.
Center the overlay on the gauge face and "eyeball" it's positioning to make sure it's straight and center'd thenuse the squeegee to sqeeze the water out from behind the overlay. Turn your hair dryer on high and fry them up while at the same time shrinking them ever so slightly to conform to the face of the gauge.


The only concern I had was with the speedo because of the trip meter reset knob. I finally pulled the needle off then the face and placed the overlay on it then reassembled it.

My factory radio was a 1.5 D.I.N. in the dash of my '90 suburban I had to do a bit of trimming on the metal of the dash. I also made a filler/mounting plate
that fit around the stereo head unit which is a SONY double D.I.N. unit. I have four speakers in the dash - 2 MTX and the dual speaker set up for the center of the dash from LMC. 2 sony 4X10 behind the rear seats in the factory locations. 2 sony 6X9's in enclosers mounted to the rear side walls where the 3rd row seat belts would be if I had a third seat in it. I also have a sub box right behind the rear reat with 2 10" MTX woofers in it. And mounted to the roof over the rear seat is a 10 disc changer.

have any of you guys bought the neon glow wire that i did? I was thinking that the LEDs will be much brighter, but still not enough. Plus i can always dim them down if i have to

The L.E.D.'s won't dim with the factory headlight switch. You'll have to install a seperate dimmer for them. Same story with the neon glow wire.

it says it only works with their gauge system... i think their plug will only plug into their system or something like that, but it should dim mine, right? just need to splice it in

Okay... just got my package in the mail!!!!!!!!!

on the heater panel, do you just install it while its still in the dash? it says you dont have to remove the knobs, but do i need to take it out of my dash?

Well i just did a test to see how hard it was on a guage that i wont be using. What ya think? I took the needle off cuz it was a trashed gauge that someone had pained the needles a creamy whitish color.... yuck

Tis just the flash from his camera. Also I was thinking of doing white gauges on my Chevy, but never got around it, now I just looked at the F-150 kits and it turns out I gotta pull the speedo and paint it white myself - man that's just bull, if I'm gonna be painting the darn thing may as well paint the other gauges too - y'all got it easy with them complete gauge kits, they turn out real nice!

I don't believe their light dimmer kit will work with your LEDs. It looks like a rheostat (or potentiometer) that is spec'ed for their vacuum fluorescent displays. What your are after is a pulse width modulator (PWM) which, by the way, uses a potentiometer to 'adjust the brightless' of the LEDs. Basically, a PWM varies the duty cycle of the LEDs so that the LEDs are actually blinking slow enough where they look dimmer without actually seeing them blink. You can get it a PWM kit for under $10. Search for 'PWM DC Motor Speed Control LED Driver'.
