Re: Thinking of a 73 stepside
GO FOR IT!!!!!!! my dad has a 73 step that his dad bought new in 73, ordered it with 3/4 ton suspension and a 3 on the tree... used it all over the farm.
Cool thing is that my dad drove it in high school when he dated my mom, and had recently (3 or 4 years ago) bought it from his dad and is restoring it. LOTS of work. As far as what to look for: cab floor, front fenders that always catch water, bed floor, etc. all the usual stuff. I dont really think that the rear fenders caught much water, but more so than the fleetseide fenders did. Now i have a 74 that will kick his 73s @$$ |

Re: Thinking of a 73 stepside
Ok so I'll get it this weekend. The worst of it is a rusted drivers door, one of the front frame horns is bent, it is running rich and one of the exhust manifold leaks were it dumps out.Oh and it is ugly!

Re: Thinking of a 73 stepside
House of Krylon bright yellow holds up well to the weather and sunlight. Much better than primer or any other color. Painted my 70 GTO yellow with rattle cans three years ago and it still looks ok. Long story as to why its painted with rattle cans...

Re: Thinking of a 73 stepside
Thanks Sal. I had those wheels on my 62 for years til I put the smoothies on... I put them on the 83, decided to sell and sold her in one day... Heartbreaking... but I'm on the verge of getting a 73 SWB now. It's in Vegas but I have family out there and I don't mind a trip to get away from this freezing cold weather here in Santa Fe...
