4x2 Jeep Patriot - Offroad 101.
We decided to go up to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park today, since it's been raining a lot there was a lot of mud & huge puddles. Needless to say, our Patriot has officially been introduced to what can be called "off road". We decided to see what our patriot could do, by bringing it down one of the trails there.. anywho, pics explain more, here u go:
Click for bigger pics! (oh, and for those wondering, its a silver one, not khaki metallic.. just mud) again, this is a short-wheelbase jeep; just a little bigger than a Caliber.

Re: 4x2 Jeep Patriot - Offroad 101.
So you blasted through what appears to be a large mud puddle and drove down some dirt roads? Congrats. My Accord station wagon can do that.
edit: nice pics, though.

I was looking at those patriots a while back. Looks like fun but I hope the little guy can take it. I hear it's not quite cut out for off road duty like it's bigger bretheren.

off-roading is always fun, no matter what kind of vehicle your in. Even getting un-stuck is usually fun.

Actually it was a bit harder than it looked there; we stopped at the least-muddy part to take the "aftermath" pics, it had been stormy at JoshuaTree for like 3 days before we got up there, when we got up there, was the worst; it was almost sleet there. Doesn't matter though, my boyfriend is a seasoned off-roader, and comes from Georgia, so he got to put a few of his skills to the test [he has a pair of old JGW's - pic'd below]. Now that thing is fun to mud around in.. cannot get it stuck, unless you high-center it. haha As far as it being 'cut out' to go offroad, its quite capable, its not as capable due to its size, ground clearance is an issue, especially with the bumpers; if i took the bumpers off, it'd probably do pretty well. I bet if we had the opportunity to do it with a chevy, we would've
