Sellers remorse, and its not even gone yet

This is more of a case of doing the smart thing vs. doing something fun. I have my truck up for sale and a sale pending with a deposit down. I have agonized over selling the truck before but seeing that I need to get out of my $950/mo apt. and get in to a house is definitely what makes sense. The sell of the truck is returning a good profit to me and would make the house thing a breeze. I dunno what it is. I have sold 30+ cars over the years and done a lot more work to some of them than I have done to the truck. I have weighed out the pros and cons of keeping and selling it and the sell outweighs keeping it. You guys know what I am talking about?

Been their done that! I found a 72 cst blazer 4x4 back in 2001 with 73k original miles fully loaded 1 owner. This thing was rust free, ding free and was the 72 red/orange but was faded. I paid 3k for it and drove it home with great plans of converting it to a 2wd then I got a call from a friend about a house that was going on the market in a week. It was a friend of the realitor so he knew about the house before any papers were signed to put it up for sale. I spent 3days waxing and polishing that blazer untill it looked showroom fresh. I put an add in the paper and got almost 5x what I paid for it. That gave me a down payment on my first house. 3yrs later I sold that house and made over 15x what I sold the blazer for just in net profit and used that money to buy my curent place that has almost doubled in the last 3yrs even in this Ca. market. It was the one vehical out of almost 65 by that time that I did not want to sell but I would do it all the same in a heart beat for the out come I ended up with.

Thank you for sharing your story Rokcrln. That does make me feel a little better. As we all know, the housing market is a buyers market right now and I hate to miss out. Of course, I hate to give up the truck too. You guys are right, once they find a spot in your heart its hard to let them go.

I was faced with the same delimma several years ago when my wife and I bought our house, and I ended up getting rid of my daily drieb '70 CST/10. At the time and especially shortly thereafter I missed the truck and regretted it. Fast forward to this last year, and I was finally able to be in the position to replace it, and the truck I have now is a much better truck than the one I had. The point I'm making is if you have to get rid of it, you can replace it later if you really want another one.

I felt like that when I sold my 66' when we started having kids. After things settled down I ended up with a 71'. At least now you'll have a garage, so you can start planning your project!!

Nice truck!!!!! I feel the same as you do-I have a offer to sell my 69 step the way it is and I may have to---------Inflation is eating anything I saved in the last few years and its a struggle to heat the home and put food on the table.

I feel the same i sold my first K5 Blazer to get my house but things worked out and i have a much nicer Blazer than my first. House is almost always over a car.

I sold a 1970 Corvette in perfect shape, owned it for 18 yrs, to buy my wife and newborn son a Chevy Tahoe. This led to a new house (long story) point is, its always good karma to sell your truck for a house. Even though its hard to let go of a nice car/truck, trust me, you'll get a better truck some day. Family and/or house always come first.

No matter how nice a car is, it is just a material possession. I house is a means of shelter. None of which means anything on our judgement day, can't take it with us!! Do what you need to do in order for you and your family to live a better life, there are plenty of other trucks out there. I have sold off several of my projects and various parts of my stash as well, but in the end it'll all be worth it.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. It looks like it pretty much a done deal. The guy brought his mechanic out and he gave it the thumbs up. I actually do not have any kids or family that live with me so the house is more of an investment move than anything. I have 2 garages at my apartment complex so it has almost been a house that I do not own.

I know I can always buy another truck in the future but I want it to run and ride as good as this one does. The devil and angel on my shoulders are still pulling at my ears! I just need to be smart and sell it.

Well as much as I hated to see it go it is sold. It is going to a good home. Hopefully within a few years I can pick up another 71-72 SWB. I will remain an active member on the boards to gather ideas for what I want next. Have a good weekend everyone.
