Electric Fuel Pump W/dual Tanks
Anyone Runnin A Aftermarket Fuel Pump W/dual Tanks, Is There A Way I Can Run Off Of Both Tanks With One Pump?? I'm Trying To Get As Close As I Can To Both Tanks, I Hear The Electric Pumps Work Better As "pushers" Rather Than Pulling The Fuel. I Have'nt Even Looked At How The Fuel Lines Are Set Up( Kinda Hard With The Truck 3 Inches Off The Ground)

Re: Electric Fuel Pump W/dual Tanks
Yes, you want to "push" rather than "pull". My dual tanks have the tank solenoid/switch close to the tank, and has the two lines (one from each tank) connected to the solenoid which outputs to one (I assume yours is like this too), and I have the electric pump mounted as close as I can in front of this using the output line.
My fuel line and fuel pump are mounted inside the frame rail. Last edited by D-Day; 02-01-2008 at 07:30 AM. |

Re: Electric Fuel Pump W/dual Tanks
You know, I'd have to crawl under the truck to get the exact model number, but it's one of these: http://www.holley.com/types/Electric...Carbureted.asp
The Holley blue 110gph, I think. I really wanted to go with Edelbrock (busted 3 of them before I mounted it right; oops), but was swayed by the auto parts store guy saying that these were more reliable, not to mention, a lot cheaper. They're also easier to rebuild/maintain/take apart, if necessary. Their only downfall, however, is noise. They are noisy. You can hear it buzzing away quite audibly even when the truck is idling (not driving), but so far it's been decent. It's a lot cheaper than Edelbrock. Just remember to get a fuel pressure regulator when you go electric, and put it close to the carburetor (in the engine bay). Last edited by D-Day; 02-01-2008 at 02:08 PM. |

You'll also need a relay wiring kit so it knows when to shut off, otherwise it'll pump itself to death and burn up. I used the Edelbrock relay kit for the Holley because I bought it for the Edelbrock originally.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump W/dual Tanks
I have a small Holley that came with my pro jection unit. Right now it will pull from either tank when switched but only returns to the drivers side. I usually run the drivers side empty then switch to passenger side. After the switch I get to use @ half a tank then switch back to drivers side where the other half a tank has migrated too!!!
