Front clip swap

I have a 72 longbox I am restoring and I would like to put a 67 front clip on it does anyone know if it will bolt on or are there some other body panels that may need to be changed.

Re: Front clip swap

The entire frt clip can be used from a 67 on a 72 and everything bolts up just fine. If you attempt to run the radiator support from the 72 on the 67 you will have issues with headlight mounting locations but physically 67-72 parts interchange with only subtle differences being the very frt fender edges between 67/68 and 69-72 because of grille shell designs.Radiator supports vary some, hood leading edges vary some, and all frt bumpers interchange but some will have light holes or contours and others wont.

I put an entire frt clip rad support, fenders, hood and all from a 68 on my 72 with no issues at all.Trying to run a 69-72 hood with a 67-68 grille and vice versa unless you do some modifications which is why its better to always get as much as possible off the donor truck for your conversion no matter what your doing.

Nope, just get a new core support to frame mounting kit for the '67 front and bolt it on....

Looks like a nice clip! I did the same thing, but my 68 stock hood was bent down in the middle, yours looks straight.

Re: Front clip swap

Yep, they swap just fine.
My 70 chevy one ton has the front clip from a 69 GMC 1500...

And the 69 GMC 1500 got the '70 chevy front clip... which was actually made of 71/72 parts.

You know... I kinda miss that old bondo'd death trap POS.

Re: Front clip swap

yep, I just put my 69 clip on my 71. Only because it was a lot staighter.

the 69 before removing the clip.

The 69.

69 clip.

71 with 69 clip. Used doors only because they were nicer. Didn't have to.
