71 2wd 12 bolt width

I need the actual width from wheel mounting flange to wheel mounting flange. I installed one of these in my uncle's 66 GMC truck and need to go narrower to accommodate a larger tire.

Re: 71 2wd 12 bolt width

I have my eye on an 8.8 with rear disc from and exploder. I just need a stock width to reference from. I think we will probably just go with a 12 inch wheel and a drag radial. It already has been converted to trailing arms and coil overs but it has a nasty small block and a muncie!

Sounds Like A Sick Truck I Thought About Using A 8.8 Out Of A Mustang But The 8.5 Rear Was A Good Deal.$250 With 3.73 And Aftermarket Axels And Carrier With Only 500mi On It.it Has Lasted 9000mi With Blown 355 Making 450 Hp But I Will Have To See About With The New Motor 357ci 610hp

Re: 71 2wd 12 bolt width

Anyone ever come up with a width from outer drum to outer drum?

Re: 71 2wd 12 bolt width

the explorer 8.8 rear is 60.25 from mounting flange to mounting flange. I bought one from a v8 mountaineer with 3.73's and a posi and 31 spline axles for 275 from the junk yard.

Re: 71 2wd 12 bolt width

DJ, is that a 5x5 patern or 5x5.5?

I have a lead on a 61" drum to drum 9" for $225. I'm not sure that I want to go disk in the rear.

I asked somone one E-bay that has a 73-87 6-lug 4x4 the width from drum to drum. this is what he gave me.. "measuring it by myself I came up with about 64 1/4 inches from one side to the other where the wheels would seat against the drums, and 42 inches between centers of the spring perches, thank you"

Are these the same width as the 70 1/2 throuh 73 5-lug?
