'67 4x4 Burb / Panel mix

Seen this in OKC - I don't know what it is, but I liked it. Anyone seen anything similar?

Oops, on second look, it's not a 4x4

Re: '67 4x4 Burb / Panel mix

Maybe it was an ambulance, originally.

Re: '67 4x4 Burb / Panel mix

Kind of looks familiar. If it were a 4X4 I would guess a military ambulance. The rear side windows look like they were cut into a panel.
My best guess is that it was a modified panel, either for military use or maybe by a "customizer"

Re: '67 4x4 Burb / Panel mix

Crazy enough though it actually doesn't look to bad. I kind of like it. Maybe it was done by some kind of coach company for a commercial company or maybe something like a police transport vehicle.

I suspect it was done by a private individual.

Re: '67 4x4 Burb / Panel mix

I was thinking private also until I looked a little more closely. The small rear windows follow the lines of the burb rear. The larger windows next sort of follow burb larger and the ones closest to the doors are similar to the door size windows.

The cut out in the roof looks like they were there for some sort of light bar possibly. I was thinking an aftermarket builder of emergency type vehicles maybe put it together...

Or a private individual...lol...Im sure we will never find out =)

Re: '67 4x4 Burb / Panel mix

I'm wondering though; for what purpose would a 2-door burb be preferable to a 3-door? Prisoner transport? There does appear to be some kind of wire mesh behind the rear glass...

Re: '67 4x4 Burb / Panel mix

Kind of like an old 'Paddy Wagon'. Load em in the rear doors. Sounds plausible.

It sorta looks like there is expanded metal covering all the side windows...or am I just seeing things?

+1 For the Franklin panel school bus thing. Seems that if it was going to used for a bus you would want more doors??

Looks like stretched by 24". Surely unique.
