Anyone else have this problem?? :)

(Semi-rant... beware!)
So, the time has come to put a little money into my ride. I want to convert it over to 5-lug disc brakes, 5-lug rear axles, drop it (either air or static), and add new wheels. Problem is, there are sooo many vendors (both site supporters and highly praised others) that I am going nuts trying to piece together everything I need AND get a decent price.

I am definitely one of those ppl that believe you get what you pay for. But how do you know what is a good deal? Some vendors sell disc brake conversions w/the booster/master, others sell em with new ball joints, etc... Some are cheaper, some more expensive. Same with drop kits and air suspensions. Some come with shock relocators, panhard bars, etc. and others do not.

I'm pulling out what (little) hair I have left trying to figure out what I do next. LOL Ok, i need a beer after that....

Re: Anyone else have this problem?? :)

Yes,i have the same situation!!! I just bought my 2nd '67 & its a 6 lug too. I like the variety of wheel choice for the 5 lug.

I was thinking about just getting coverd lug wheels n leave it alone, but TORQ THRUST II looks unORIGINAL to me in a 6 lug.

So i have to get the set up first then find someone knowledgeable to handle the task.&(i e $cost$)
I'm loving the options i have puttin my DREAM together.
My 67...

BTW i been feelin these wheels from BOYD...

Re: Anyone else have this problem?? :)

I bought a set up from GMC pauls 6 lug Rotors and new brake hoses front and rear braided then purchased upper and lower ball joints from Napa as well as all 71-72 tierods, seals and bearings and calipers. Rotors @ $85 each bolted on with zero problems. Ball joints lower $30 each, lower pressed in @ $35, roughly $60 in tie rod endsand another $35 or so in seals and bearings, calipers were $16 apiece and organic pads were $15 or so. The hoses were $119 from Pauls but they bolted right in. Total was around $629 -buy a complete kit that offers it all together you will come out better in the end. I think that GMC Pauls has the best parts for this conversion 6 or 5 lug, give them a call.

Re: Anyone else have this problem?? :)

Not dissin' anyone who sells on the board, and I understand shopping for the best price. I guess it comes down to making the decision to buy and knowing you'll have to live with the decision. I don't have any experience with anyones' suspension except Early Classic Enterprises. I can vouch for them and their product, and that they stand behind what they sell AND that they are super people to deal with and will answer all of your questions...whew!!

I weighed staying 6-lug or going to 5-lug. So, I let my wheels talk for me, and they said...."SIX LUG!!" So, it is six-lug.

Re: Anyone else have this problem?? :)

Putting these trucks together is quite the process. And it takes a TON of time just gathering up the parts. Finding the best deals is what we all hope for. The fact that you are trying to support the board by shopping them first is very cool to me. If you find stuff you want elsewhere at better prices thats cool too. At least you gave our guys a chance first.

Re: Anyone else have this problem?? :)

I have used these 5 companies/manufacturers for years and I will list them in order from best to not my personal favorite.
Early Classic Enterpricse
Classic Performance Products
Mcgaughys
BellTech
Djm'
Chassis Tech
Look and see what board vendors we have here and see if they carry any of these kits your looking for and if needed check online for other options. I suggest if a board vendor has one of those top 3 brands I posted to give them a shot and see what they can do.
