New guy from central New York

I've been wanting to introduce myself for a while, but I know how you guys like your pics. I THINK I figured it out, so here she is. Just got her a couple months ago. She's a 1972 CST and in pretty nice shape. Of course, being the new owner, I've got a list of things I can't wait to do. Just have to wait for the snow to melt because I'm not driving her in the salt!

Welcome from South Texas. Your Blazer looks great and I like that shade of blue. It’s hard to tell from the pictures, is the top black or dark blue? Either way, it looks nice!

Re: New guy from central New York

TAKE THE TOP OFF!!!!!
Bigger tires, 33's or 35's, and mickey thompson classic II rims.
Redo a couple of the emblems that were not replaced.
Yank the carpet and do something with the floor...previous owner restored the truck but just stuck new carpet over floors that had surface rust.
Fix all the surprises you always find when buying something this old!!!
Fix the stuff that breaks.

The top is black...the pics are a little dark...the truck is much brighter w/ some metalic. It's a late 90's dodge color.

No rust really. Just about the entire front clip is new...frame was undercoated, but it wasn't a frame off, so there is probable some rust hiding. Surface rust on the floors but I plan to take care of that...possible por 15.

Welcome to the board from KY. Thats a sharp K5. You could fit 33 12.50's on it the way it sits. I'm going to run 35 12.50's on mine with a 4" lift. Por15 is a great choice. I've been using it for a while now.

Re: New guy from central New York

Thanks for all the kind words. I'll get some more pics up in a couple months. Marcy NY is about 10 minutes from Utica, and 40 min east of Syracuse...the 2003 National Champs in B-Ball! To the guys who spoke of their rims...how much were they. I don't mind having fake alcoas or american racing because I'm not taking it off road. How does the truck handle with 35's? I want the truck to have a nice ride and be driveable. Thanks

GO GIANTS!

I picked up my 70 swb in Utica, it's about 5hrs from central VT.
So 'nationally speaking', we're pretty close.
If you need any parts, body work or just a question, feel free.

35's will drive fine, just make sure to run radials.
A good spring set is well worth the investment as well, then there's gearing but all that can be found within this site.

My current blazer build will run 36" rubber, 456:1 gearing and a 7004 tranny if that helps you out any.
Being built mainly as a driver.

Worldly speaking, your next door neighbors

Why run radials? Is it sidewall stiffness or something else? J.
