Re: lower control arm u bolt question

Hope this helps.
I dont know for sure but it would think the smaller than 7/16 ublots would be at the 65 lbs, someone chime in if you know.

Re: lower control arm u bolt question

two related questions:

is it safe to swap out the stock nuts with poly-lock nuts?

if using regular nuts, should you use blue threadlock or similar on the nuts? you know, a threadlock that can be broken fairly easily, but not without some torque?

there are a lot of concepts that have confused me in the past with automotive. since i turned 15 and started having to wrench on my own cars with dad's supervision (thanks dad! i learned a TON! ), he would always impart on me that you should tighten down firmly, and give an extra half a turn, that is sufficient on 99% of all things.

i respect torque specs and use em if i have em...but i get really confused about when to use threadlock or anti-sieze.

sorry if this is a thread hijack, i figured it was safe since the original question was answered, and it is related ....

Re: lower control arm u bolt question

I would use poly-locks or threadlocker and upgrade to the aforementioned 73-up larger diameter bolts.

Re: lower control arm u bolt question

so what size are the larger bolts supposed to be? Stock was 1/2" right? I have been shopping around for them, and some vendors are selling 7/16 and others 9/16. Why the difference?
