You can officially give up on the Glass Cowl!
This post is for everyone that asked me about the fiberglass smoothed cowl I was supposed to be getting made. The guy that was painting my truck was going to make a mold for these and sell them for $$75.00. Well, he called me friday night and told me to come get the rest of my sh#t. He claims he got busted by Johnny Law for painting out of his garage. Now I have got a truck that is 2 different colors, a cowl that is not done, a tailgate that has a skin put on it but not done, and a punch in the eye for that prick the next time I see him.
I guess it is time to go take some auto body classes! Later

Man, I hope that the EPA doesn't get involved. He'll be paying a steep fine. Sorry to hear about your truck, did you pay him "up front" ?

I don't know what the laws are in Washington, but a family friend (who is building a '71 SWB Chevy C10 as we speak) almost lost his business in the early '90s because it was operated out of his home from what he remembered.
He was always able to underbid jobs because he had all of the equipment and facilities to do bodywork out of his garages. He's been doing it for over 20 years. The requirements to maintain his business meant building a whole new set of garages, with paint booths and filtering systems. Cost him a lot of money, but he did it.

You can operate a business out of your home in Washington but it has to comply with all applicable EPA and county provisions. For setting up a paint shop that means all the applicable EPA VOC restrictions, scrubbers, filters , OSHA regs etc. It would be a nightmare and cost more than its worth . Plus you'd have be zoned in a commercial area more than likely depending on what your county charter says.

1)Luckily I got my truck and all my parts back before any further actions were taken.
2)The Cops also said something having a business at his house. But the last time I checked It is legal to be self employed and have a business in your house. I guess it was because of the vapors and stuff since he does not have a paint booth. 3)I paid the guy 2000 bucs and he did all the body work and a lot of other stuff for me. I owed him more money but that is history! Like I originally said "I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO DO BODY WORK!!" JUSTIN

justin. couldn't tell from the pics your truck is two different colors, I think almost any shade of silver is bada$$.
If the guy told you to come get your sh!t and have a nice life, I'd say he doesn't expect anything more. I know having to make other arrangments to get your truck done is a pain in the a$$ I haven't had a chance to do any thing in the shop for a while prepping for the baby's arrival, but about one or two more weeks and its back in the shop for the fabman. Got some real cool mods to show you guys but it will have to wait just a little while longer |
