Front spring differnces?
I am looking to purchase a set of stock height front springs for a my 70 3/4 ton 4x4. I have found sets at a couple of sites but they say they are the same for k10 and k20, both 2 and 3 leaf set ups. Am I missing something? I thought K20 leafs were beefier. Any clarification would be helpful.
thanks ken |

Re: Front spring differnces?
The 69-72 OEM front springs were the same for K10 and K20, 2 leaf standard and 3 leaf heavy duty.
Chevrolet Part # 69-71 K10 and K20 standard 2 leaves #328790, heavy duty 3 leaves #328792 72 K10 and K20 standard 2 leaves #328795, heavy duty 3 leaves #328796 |

Re: Front spring differnces?
for all practical pourposes, the front springs aren't holding much more weight in a loaded 10 series verses a loaded 20 series.

Re: Front spring differnces?
So, engine size and weight have no effect on the front spring height? I always thought that front springs were rated by engine size as well as vehicle weight to achive the same stock ride height.

Re: Front spring differnces?
There may not be much difference between the weight of an I6 and a sbc -- and the heavier bbc was not available in a 4x4.

Re: Front spring differnces?
there is that, plus the fact that all measurements were plus or minus x% or x inches.
So to say the bumper was 10 inches off the ground.... +/- 1.5 inches... the same spring could do the job. |
