amazing custom 67 lwb in salvage yard in minnesota

i dont know who it belongs to but i have a friend whos family owns a scrap yard and they reacently sold the auto salvage part of it, i was at the scrap yard today to pickover a 71 step basketcase that came in for scrap, and in the auto salvage part that they sold there was sittin a 67 chevy lwb that was loweredand sitin on 4 flats atached to 4 disk brakes and 5 bolt chevy raley rims , the dash was out of a 68 camaro and the front bumper was similer if not an acctual camaro bumper and the rear bumper was from a 71 chevelle the truck is a fadded hugger orange with black pin stiping on the tailgate and it has a pinstiped number under a pinstriped chevy bowtie that says 383 and from looking in the interior it has a 4 speed nonhurst shifter

its a really interesting truck and i wish the auto salvage yards new owner was around cause id like to know about it
if any of you on the board have ever seen a truck like this let me know cause the doors the bed cover and even the hood were locked it has no plates on it

next chance i get i am going to back to try and locate the trucks owner and possibly the builder but i will at least get pictures

if any one has ever seen a similar custom let me know and tell me whatever u can remember about it
thanks

Re: amazing custom 67 lwb in salvage yard in minnesota

About 30 years ago I was at a used car lot in Ripley Wv killin some time when in the back row I seen what I remember either a 67 or 68,been to long ago, anyway it was all painted up with mid 70's paint scheme and it set real low,it also was a long wheel base.Painted on the side on the doors was the name-BILLY"THE KIDD"STEPP.I asked the salesman about the truck and he told me the truck sat on a Caddy frame and the owner was a pro stock racer, racing in NHRA and used the truck to tow his race car.I remember the base color was orange, and all the interior was all custom with a gold color crush velvet seat covering. This was the very first lowered truck I had ever seen, and to say it left a lasting impression on me would be a understatement.

Re: amazing custom 67 lwb in salvage yard in minnesota

the scrap yard is by furgus falls mn but incase this truck may be for sale i am going to keep location of it at that
that truck sounds interesting could have a conection but who knows this truck is the most custom vehicle i have ever seen in person, i coundnt tell if there was fiberglass work done but it looked really solid, but looks can be deciving unfortunatly, i am trying to find a time when i can get back there to get pictures as soon as i get any i will put them up i will also show some pics of the other derelict 67-72 sittin in the salvage yard but i know the owner and he has paid for them all and none are for sale but i am hoping he doesnt own this one cause he is not the yard owner and is usualy not around in winter but some of his trucks include 3 original big blocked no power optioned 4spd posi chevy stepsides
1 gmc 1ton exfiretruck
and numerous gmc and chevy longbeds and shortbeds and 1 454 desil suburban 3/4 ton
i know this guy restores them and keeps them in his garage its a shame but at least theyll be around for the future

Re: amazing custom 67 lwb in salvage yard in minnesota

from what i saw through the windows i coundt tell how they mounted it probly nothin to fancy
what im guessing is he removed the original dash and then custom fit the camaro dash into place if he had to add or lose part of the ash for width i could tell from the outside of the truck

I was up in DL a couple weeks ago for a hockey tournament. I know of a guy there (gone working the winter months) that spends his summers restoring 67-72 chevy trucks. He has a place just east of the Lodge hotel and his shop is north of town.

On my way up there, on hwy 59 just north of Elizabeth I think, there are a couple 67-72 chevy truck sitting in front of the junkyard. One was a panel or suburban if I remember correctly and 4wd. Check 'em out.

Re: amazing custom 67 lwb in salvage yard in minnesota

It's rare to hear of anything up here, but nice to know they're still out there. Any of you guys ran into the Uninviteds out of Fergus Falls? I'm a member and my truck will be out cruisin' this spring with them if ya'll want to come along for some good times.

(I'm at NDSU, originally from SF, SD)
