Post Can someone ID this block and heads?

I just got my motor to put into my '67 and would like for someone to check the numbers for me. Time to finally swap out the 250...

The block casting has: 19 GM 3970010

The heads have: GM 54 3927186

The motor just came out of a friends 79 L-82 'vette but I don't think it's original. I do know that it runs very strong though.

Thanks ahead of time!!!

BTW: there is no marking on the fron right of the motor (on the ID pad).

It appears the block had been decked and the numbers were taken off at that point.

302...LOL, not likely.
You ever met anyone who stumbled on a 302?
My book, which has been proven wrong) only says 68 to 80 350.

And for the heads, the book says 68 to 79 350...trucks also.

Thanx guys.... I had someone notice something that I wouldn't have known about. There is a casting in the bell housing area that has 010 020. I'm told this makes it one of the high nickel content blocks. I wish the other numbers were on there. I'd really like to know what it came out of. It had a mfg casting number of B114 which I believe would make the motor from 2/11/74. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong though...

I'm open for suggestions if anybody knows another way to ID a block/heads...

Awsome...the high nickle blocks are awsome. You can go 100,000 miles and hardly have a ridge. My old 350 was a 10 20 casting, had 300K on the clock with only the main bearings replaced. That thing would hardly catch a finger nail on the ridge.
Your date decoding is right on too. The 4 coulda ment 64 or 84, but chances are, it's a 74 since there were no 350's in 64, and if it's an 84 it would have the dip stick on the passenger side.
