17" Rims ... What size/backspacing will work?

Hello everybody,

I`m building a 1984 c10 longbed at the moment and I have a question about rims.
I want 17" rims, but I`ve no idea which sizes will work best. Same with the tires , -which one will look good ?
Backspacing ?

I want to buy the rims from summitracing if possible...

thanks for your answers,

Rob

Hey Chuck,

you`ve got great rims -old school Hotrod style ! I like 'em. But I'm actually looking for some wider wheels.

Hope someone else has some 17" on his/her truck and wants to give me a hint...

thanks again,

Rob

Not sure exactly what you have in mind, but here's a couple. The first one is vice-swervin's (white one) running 255/50s on 17x8s (I think). The second one is running 245/45s on the front and 275/50s out back.

A popular size is 245s or 255s on 8s in front (~5" bs) and and 275s or 295s on 10s (~5" bs) in the rear. Billet Specialties make a descent wheel. With a long bed, you could step up to 18s with some sidewall without it being overpowering.

I'm running 17x8 (5" BS) on the front and 17x9.5 (4.5" BS) on the rear. The tires are 255/50-17's and 275/50-17's. These are Nitto NT450 tires on Eagle 212 rims. They are my old wheels off my '82 2wd Blazer,... and they worked just fine on my '71 2wd blazer.

Thank you very much,

now I know more or less what to order - but allow me one more question:

You all might know G-old`s truck....the golden one....I like his rims and especially the stance of his truck most....does anybody know the sizes of his rims / tires ....???

If not, I think I will order some wheels similar to that ones on the blue truck which was posted by boxrodz....

hmm, we`ll see,

rob
