Front Spindle Kit "Width Difference?"
Just finished a 2.5" drop spindle with disc brakes on a 65,and the front rotors look like they are about an inch or so wider on both sides than the rears.
I haven't measured yet but they look wider.I asked CPP when I ordered the kit and they said it would be the same as the stock width, but it sure dosen't look like it. Do any disc spindle kits keep the stock drum to drum width? I'm afraid that the 8" Corvette rallys I was planning to use will stick out too far. |

Re: Front Spindle Kit "Width Difference?"
Contact the manufacturer of the spindles, it's probally Mcaulley or Western should say right on the spindel or the box they came in. I would certainly hope that it's not any wider than stock, I'm doing the same thing to mine right now and I can't go wider. Please keep us posted on what you find out.
Good luck.... |

Re: Front Spindle Kit "Width Difference?"
I did my '64 it's also wider.I think the 8" wheels may work o.k. I'll be running 10" in the rear so that maybe it won't be too noticeable.
CPP said that the spindles are stock width on a 63-66,(but only if it came with a wider 71-86 front end)??? By the way I used Chassis Tech spindles on this one same result. Last edited by olsofti; 02-29-2008 at 10:16 AM. Reason: Forgot something |

Re: Front Spindle Kit "Width Difference?"
I've got ECE spindles on my '66 - I agree, looks to be about an inch or so wider up front. I have 8" rims - they work perfect. I just added 1.5" spacers in the back until I change to 10" wheels back there - matches the front much better now.

Re: Front Spindle Kit "Width Difference?"
That's a relief.I was worried that they would stick out too far.
I've got some stock 5 x 5 wheels on it now they're inside the fenders a couple of inches. |

Re: Front Spindle Kit "Width Difference?"
typically, the front width is slightly wider than the rear on most rear wheel drive vehicles stock. Not sure about stock on these trucks. Did you measure before and after converting?
