OK folks. After pondering whether I should or not to start a build thread, I decided to make this project public. I called it "Too much Homework" because that's what is going to be: home-work. I assign homework all the time to my students, but it usually isn't as fun as mine is going to be. The truck is a 1972 C-10 Custom Deluxe. I bought it back in 2004. I immidiatly disassembled it and began gathering all the parts I needed to put it back together. So here we are 4 years later and the rebuild has begun. A big Thank You to all the members who have helped me get to this point through thier advice and postings. Feel free to critique my work, but offer alternatives to anything that does not seem right. Thanks again

Next was to make an exhaust opening through the crossmember. My cousin Jessie did the welding.

In December of 2007, I got the frame, trailing arms, rear end housing, control arms, and radiator supprt powdercoated.

So here we are now. Over the course of this month I have installed the front crossmember, lowered sway bar mounts, the upper and lower control arms, and the ECE 2.5 spindles and 1.5 coils. Thats my son lending a hand.

Today I installed the trailing arms and ECE 6" rear coils. My other son is sort of helping.

I got some more work done on the front suspension last night. The front rotors are on. Will the center hubs rust if I don't paint them? Also, the brake dust plate rubs on the lower control arm

Great job, glad to see you started a build thread on this

Those hubs should be painted, they will rust just like the spindles. Ya, more work, I know the feeling

I managed to get some work done on the front suspension today - sort of. The power steering pump went on smoothly, as did the pitman arm, idler arm, right side tie rods and center tie link. When I went to start the right side, I had a hard time threading the adjustment sleeve to one tie rod. It turns out one tie rod had poorly machined threads. The threads were flat instead of sharp. It also ruined one end of the adjustment sleeve. I'll contact Mark at ECE tomorrow and see if they can get me another. I'll keep ya'll posted. Enjoy the race (if it ever starts).

wow,looks like we are on the same mission and have alot of the same ideas,my truck is a little different as it is a rear leaf spring rear suspension.your project loooks good and i hope mine turns out as good as yours is.time will tell over the course of the next feiw months/years...lol....need to buy lots of stuff and dont have the funds as of yet...hahahahahaha...good job so far man
