Short water pump vs. long?

How much difference is there, lengthwise, between the shot and the long pump? My brackets look like they might fit with some filing (1/4 to 1/2 inch) of the pump? Is this just due to a different style/brand pump or is it a long vs. short issue? Anyone got pics?

Thanks!
Jason

The brackets & pullies are all different on the long vs short pump. i run a long pump , due to the use of 6 cyl eng mount stands. here are a few shots... http://community.webshots.com/user/hotrodhorn

If you have short pump brackets dont ruin them by modyfying, buy a short water pump for a 67-72 truck or upto 68 car, also long pump alternator is on passanger and AC is on driver, long pump brackets are very cheap ill sell long pump alt brackets for $10,$15 for all the pulleys $25 for AC,i also have some ps brackets and pump fpr long cheap.but id recommend go buy a $30 water pump,so it all bolts on and you dont have to cut and lengthen wires so they fir the long pump stuff since its in a diff location,or ill give you all the long pump stuff for your short pump brackets and pulleys.

Thanks, Rat. I think I'll just get a short pump, that idea sounds best and easiest. I appreciate the offer though.
