Re: Difference in 67 Chevy and GMC

A half-ton GMC should be a 1500.

The only difference I can remember is that the six cylinders in GMC's were V-6's, other than that the grill is the only difference I think.

The old timers use to tell me that GMC's were one step up from a Chevy, but I have owned both and think they were pulling my leg.

Re: Difference in 67 Chevy and GMC

I agree with ya'll on the rear suspension

Also the core support is different from Chevy to GMC
If it's a GMC then the tailgate prolly says GMC (also I think there is a big letter & a small letter GMC)

Don't hold me to this, but I think you could get the Chevy I-6 in them also, not just the GMC V-6 (there was a 305 V-6 & a 351 V-6)

I think the reason the "old timers" say that they're better built is, cuz it's more common for a GMC to have more options than the chevy, but there are still plenty of base model GMCs

Re: Difference in 67 Chevy and GMC

Back more years and the differences were more prevailent. These are the last to be different at all other than trim.Everything is interchangeable. The only difference in the radiator core supports is the headlight mounting.I`ve swapped the light mounts on a support before.

The engine choices were 250, 292 straight six, 305, 351 V-6. No V-8's until late in the models year.

Re: Difference in 67 Chevy and GMC

Chevy's get plastic grilles, GMC's get chrome (SS).

Who's the classy one now?

Linky Linky

After the General Motors Company was founded in 1908, it soon became known as one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. In 1909, the Grabowsky Rapid Motor Vehicle Company (GMC) joined with GM. The trade name GMC Trucks was first exhibited in 1912 at the New York Auto Show and was registered with the United States Patent Office eight months later. Now known as the high-end truck-building division of General Motors, the "GMC" in GMC Truck stands for General Motors Corporation.
